I ve been a fan of Victoria for a while now, so I was eager to get my hands on her book I love her YouTube channel and I frequently read her blog, so I m used to her content and style.Firstly, the title is a little misleading the book features a series of important moments in fashion, selected by Victoria They re not in chronological order, but collated in sections such as be accessible and be social I think I would have preferred them to be in date order, but the moments are interesting and relevant, and Victoria has clearly put a lot of thought and time into researching them. There is one major flaw to the book the editing There is a lot of repetition in the phrasing and choice of vocabulary which really should have been sniffed out by her editor Ubiquitous comes up a lot the irony , as does gal , other half and pure play which isn t even explained until it has been used about 4 or 5 times It means the writing style is slightly clunky and, onthan one occasion, it distracted me from processing the topic in hand This really isn t Victoria s fault though.I also didn t like the fontwhich seems like a small thing, but g looks like an 8 and I found it a bit irritating All in all, I found the book really interesting but I m slightly disappointed it wasn t as perfect as the outputs Victoria and Alex produce for Inthefrow on a daily basis. The book is beautifully presented and the content is digestible, providing insight into an industry that has rapidly changed in the last 10 years Victoria has attempted to maintain accessibility by providing an in depth review of the industry that is visually stunning and that avoids language that is overly academic or dominated by business marketing jargon I agree that there was some repetition, however I felt that this synthesised the discussions in the book and presented a well balanced view of an industry whose business focus has had to evolve rapidly with the explosion of digital marketing and social media Business literature can be somewhat dry, complex or egotistical, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this no only enjoyable but also a comfortable read.Victoria s knowledge and passion for the industry, as well as her attention to detail, really make thisthan just another fashion coffee table book My partner has been reading The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuck and we have been able draw parallels between the shifting face of business and the ongoing evolution of the global fashion industry This is a great, accessible read for any one interested in the afshion business in the digital age. I ve given this a Five Star rating because I think the writer really knows her biz It is fabulously presented, the cover is eye catching, each page well written with beautiful pics However, the only point I make and this is not a criticism just something I noticed as I follow InTheFrow on social media channels There are a lot of mentions of the paid partnership Brands that it does sometimes read like advertising the brands all over again These are not high street brands but high end designers It s difficult to put my thoughts into a review without it sounding over critical I have the utmost respect for Victoria McGrath This book is perfect for bloggers, vloggers, instagram content posters and fashion students I must add I do not regret buying the book though it is an informative read. This is a well written engaging book It gives a great insight into the world of fashion marketing and how their has been a major shift in advertising documenting the history from large campaigns to the current marketing through social media this is not a fluffy normal run of the mill fashion photo book but an insightful read which I would imagine assist many a student studying fashion, visual marketing or fashion marketing I can t wait for further books from Victoria This is so muchthan what meets the eye, it s an intellectual commentary on how the fashion and digital industry have collided over the last 20 years Ignore the reviews stating it s all about styling tips as they re simply untrue A book I wish I had when I was studying fashion at university A fascinating read Chronicles how the digital age has impacted the fashion industry with solid research and personal anecdotes which provides a gental inthefrow touch which in partnership with the writing style will feel very familiar for inthefrow readers I m sure If you re unfamiliar with the author this is definitely not intended to be a style guide but rather a well researched compact guide to how the internet has modernised and contributed to a huge industry Would highly recommend for students or anyone who wants to improve their general fashion knowledge and feel informed on the current fashion industry from someone literally in the industry with a career born from the digital age. |DOWNLOAD EPUB ☦ The New Fashion Rules: Inthefrow ♵ An Engaging And Informative Take On The Fashion Industry Through Victorias Inimitable Digital Lens A Must ReadDeborah Joseph, Editor In Chief, GlamourTo Change Your Game Read This BookRebecca Minkoff, Fashion DesignerPerfect To Dip In And Out Of You Can Hear Magraths Super Bubbly, Happy Voice As You Read The Pages And It Is Insanely Beautiful As You Can Imagine So Once Youre Done With It, It Can Take Pride Of Place On Your Coffee TableBustleVictoria Magrath Is The Creator And Author Of The Award Winning Fashion, Travel And Beauty Blog, Inthefrow Victoria Established Her Blog InAs She Was Completing Her PhD At The University Of Manchester On The Impact Of E Commerce On Consumers Behaviour, Following Her Role There As A Fashion Retailing Lecturer Within The Six Years Of Her Blogging Career, Victoria Has Won Seven Awards Including The UKs Best Fashion Blog Of Victoria Has Been The Face Of Hugo Bosss AW Campaign And Ted Bakers ChristmasCampaign InVictoria Became A Beauty Ambassador For LOreal Paris, Starring In The Princes Trust Campaign To Champion Confidence In Young People InVictoria Became A Regular Fashion Columnist For Glamour Magazine And Launched Her First Collection Collaboration With Luxury Leather Goods Brand Strathberry This Is Her First Bookhefrow Inthefrow
